We live in a time of unparalleled technological capabilities yet we are bogged down with endless ethical dilemmas. With stories of phone addiction, fake news and deceptive dark patterns (to name a few), the techno-utopia we had all dreamt of seems further away with each passing day. But how did we get here? And, more importantly, what can we, as designers, do to help build products and services that support our users and help them live their best lives? At a very high level, how can we move from human-centered to humanity-centered design?
