In a country like India where we have 2 million children with disabilities, less than 1% of them get the opportunity to go to school. However the laws on education in India do not give the much needed significance to help these children to have a more inclusive education for their future. “Education” for a person with disabilities is the basic human right in an era where we talk about sending a meaningful number of people to the red planet by 2030.
What about our own green planet? What about these children and their future by 2030??Innovation and design is beyond human intelligence… It can influence and bring smiles to those faces who struggle every single day with their caretakers to bring meaning to their lives.
United Nations Population Fund with close collaboration with KISS introducing “Samarthya”, one such human centered design that can improve the lives of children with disabilities across the country. It not only attempts to improve accessibility, equality of opportunity; promoting participation and inclusion; but also deals with preventing the youth from reducing harmful practices and adopting healthier behaviors.
